You Can’t Always Chose The Path You Walk, but You Can Choose the Way You Walk It.

Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or the left; turn your foot away from evil. (Proverbs 4:25-27)

The scripture above is referring to, keeping your eyes on what is right. It means blocking out distractions that try to pull you off course. We can’t always control the obstacles on the path, but we can control where we look. Looking straight ahead keeps us from getting distracted. We also need to ponder (think deeply) study it out, the ground that we are walking on and plan our steps carefully. When a difficult path is coming up our reaction is really going to matter. So we need to stop and think about our choices. If we will choose each step wisely we will be able to keep our footing and we will stay safe. We have a moral responsibility to stay on track as well. We don’t need to be trying to find shortcuts or make wrong choices, no matter how hard the walk gets. I know personally how rough some paths can get and I’ve wanted an easier route myself, heck I’ve even wanted to turn around and give up. Sometimes I go on these hikes for my health & exercise, not just because I like hiking. If I take a shortcut I am taking away from what I plan to achieve and I only hurt myself. The same is true of spiritual shortcuts, not staying true to my values or character and not achieving the results I wanted.

If we will fix our vision on truth, which is the Bible, intentionally evaluate our actions, and avoid distractions, this will be the only map needed for staying on a righteous path without swerving into destructive behaviors.

If you are on the wrong path right now, your directions are off, maybe your vision is even a bit blurred. Maybe you have fallen and your bloodied from the fall, Stop! Don’t go any further. Refocus! Look at your map, look to Jesus, let him guide your path. He is so gracious and merciful and he loves you and wants you to make it to your destination, whole, healthy, and unscathed.

I am a Northerner by birth, a Southerner by choice. I moved from Michigan directly after High School to Texas, I currently live in Arkansas. I am married to the man that changed my whole outlook on relationships, together we share 4 children, 12 grandchildren and recently a great-grandchild, as well as many other children we call our own. I have been raising children all my adult life in one form or another, from my own, to fostering, to teaching at school & church and any that were just in need of a mom. l received salvation when I was 12 years old at vacation Bible school with my grandfather who was a Minister. I didn't find out what a Christian was until I was 33, that's when my life began to change. I have been studying the Word of God ever since, but more importantly I have come to know Him. I never had the daddy/daughter relationship with my earthly father, but I certainly do now with my heavenly Father. I can't even tell you how blessed I am to have come to the understanding of who I am because of what He has done. I know I am a sinner saved by grace and grateful for it. I am not where I want to be, but I also know I'm not where I used to be, Praise be to God!
